A quick follow up to my last post—for everyone who tried to guess where I had set up my easel, here is the reveal!
It turned out to be Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park (@henricorecparks). Walking the grounds through that morning fog felt like stepping straight into another century. For those unfamiliar, it’s a gorgeous 150-acre historic living history farm and public park tucked away in Glen Allen, Virginia (Henrico County). Between the rolling landscape, historic structures, and the soft, diffused light cutting through the mist, it made for the perfect backdrop for a morning of plein air painting.
Take a look around the grounds, then plan your visit.

It was an incredible day to paint outdoors! 🎨🌾
Here is a quick sneak peek from the field today, but before I reveal the finished study, I want to see who knows their regional spots.
Can you guess where I set up my easel today? Here are three hints:
* A step back in time: The land dates back to an 18th-century land grant and features a historic 1810 farmhouse nestled in wide-open fields.
* Some four-legged spectators: While working on capturing the light, I had heritage farm animals keeping me company—think sheep, a cow, and pasture views.
* Double identity: It’s known as a living history museum, but it shares its grounds and rolling acreage with a county park named after a notable Virginia family.
Drop your guesses in the comments below! 👇 I’ll share the full piece and reveal the location soon.

The storm before the calm. 🌪️✨
The painting is finished, which means it’s time for the final coat of varnish—easily the most high-stakes, breath-holding, adrenaline-fueled part of the entire process! 😘 There’s that wild rush of hoping every stroke goes down smooth without a hitch, right before you step back and exhale.
Deep breath in, satin varnish magic down.🙌

Fresh off the easel and heading to the varnish table!
This one was inspired by a visit out to @shalomfarms in Richmond. If you don’t know their work, they’re an incredible regional nonprofit farm growing organic produce to build food security across the community. There was so much life to take in that morning—a visiting school group of children was there to learn about growing vegetables, dedicated volunteers were tending to the rows, and lush greenery stretched out under the easy serenity of morning birdsong. Capturing all that community energy on canvas was so rejuvenating.
It’s heading over to my studio at @libertytownarts later this week, but it still needs a proper name before it hits the wall. Any title ideas? I’d love to hear what comes to mind! #PleinAirVirginia #RichmondArt #ShalomFarms

Sometimes the best part of the process is just framing up the shapes on location—figuring out what to push, what to simplify, and what’s worth bringing back to the studio. A couple of these angles might make the cut for larger canvases soon.😊 Which view are you most drawn to?
